Asante Kotoko know very well of a herculean task ahead of them in the CAF Confederation next week at the Kumasi Sports Stadium and have step up their preparations in order to get better of the Ivorian opponents come next week.
Kotoko have already began preparation in the Confederation Cup after their unexpected drop from the CAF Champions League, white-washing Bekwai Youth Football Academy 4-0 in their first ever friendly game after their defeat to Etoile Sportif du Sahel last month.
With many of their top players serving Ghana on international duty, mainly from the WAFU tournament and CHAN qualifiers, returning Songne Yacouba has been a revelation for Kjetil Zachariassen and his technical staff scoring a hat-trick against the BYFA at Adako Jachie. Goerge Abege added to his name against the lower Division side.
Yacouba who had find it difficult to get back into the starting eleven of Kotoko in recent times is gradually finding a space not only in the first eleven but the in the heart of his manager as most of the Norwegian’s training regimes have focus on the Burkinabe.
On Saturday morning, Kotoko hosted Storm Academy at their training grounds and the Burkina International found the back of the net twice before Guinea import Naby Kieta added a goal to the tally to make it 3-0 after 90 minutes.
Songne Yacouba has been a fan of scoring against Storm Academy. Earlier this year, the former E player scored a remarkable brace against the Division One side before Kotoko travelled to Sudan to face Al Hilal in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Kumasi based side will continue their preparations next week at Adako Jachie. Leading pair Richard Arthur who is on national duty and Ugandan George Abege would have to fight for a starting position now that Yacouba is gradually warming himself back into Kotoko’s eleven.Follow us
