African giants Al Ahly have completed the signing of Senegalese forward Aliou Badji from Australian side Rapid Wien on Thursday.
Al Ahly have been looking forward to strength their attack this January transfer window in order to bolster their chance of clinching the 2019-2020 CAF Champions League.
They had been linked with four players Luzern FC forward Blessing Eleke, Ali Sowe, Mahmoud Kahraba and Aliou Badji, but with Ahly pulling out from the chase for Eleke and CSKA Sofia ruling out the sale of Sowe, Weiler’s side finally settled on former Zamalek forward Kahraba in December 2019 and Aliou Badji today.
Badji, 22, signed four and half year contract that should see him remain at Ahly until 2024 but will have to impress the bench before he can complete his basic four year duration at Cairo, and steal a starting position from Walid Azarou, Marwan Mohsen and Junior Ajayi in Weiler’s eleven as well.
Badji is Al Ahly’s second signing in January after Mahmoud Kahraba joined the Red Castle this transfer window.
He has scored nine goals in 34 appearances for Rapid Wien since joining them last year.
