Meanwhile, Guinea super star Naby Keita, Sadio Mane for Liverpool and Ivorian International Franck Kessie and Algeria midfielder Bennacer for AC Milan shine.

One of the old foes in the UEFA Champions League was rekindled on Wednesday night after Liverpool welcomed AC Milan to Anfield in what was the opener for Group B.

With Liverpool parading its arsenals to face their old rivals, Mohamed Salah could never be left out in the starting XI as the Egyptian International was paired with Divock Origi and Diogo Jota in Jurgen Klopp’s three men upfront.

The lineup was one of the unusual Klopp would name in a bigger stage in club football parting away from his consistently preferred Mane, Salah and Jota. While the Senegalese was fit, he was dropped to the bench as Origi takes his position.

Keita was named in a three man midfield along with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho while Frack Kessie and Ismaël Bennacer also started for AC Milan.

With the game starting on intensed manner, Salah played major part turning the runs on Milan defenders in early stages of the game.

Fikayo Tomori’s own goal gave Liverpool the lead on the 9’ minute before AC Milan through Ante Rebic (42’) and Brahim Dias (44’) led 2-1 after end of first half.

Salah missed a first half penalty before scoring in the second half.

Salah drew Liverpool on level three minutes into second half when he exchanged nicely with Origi at the back of the box before the Egypt man entered the 18-yard and planted the ball at the bottom left corner.

On 63rd minute, Mane entered the game with Origi making way for the Senegalese International. Mane nearly scored few minutes later but his cut inside from the left flank effort went way far over the cross bar.

Six minutes after Mane’s introduction, Liverpool restored their lead with Henderson’s half volley going straight into the net to make it 3-2.

Two minutes later, Naby Keita was substituted for Thiago Alcantara while Frank Kessie and Bennacer completed the entire game for AC Milan.

The Ivorian and Algerian Internationals started in two pivots in front of the back line for Milan but ended up losing narrowly at England.
