A second half hat-trick from Cameroonian striker Mbella Etouga Thiery handed the Porcupine Warriors a resounding home win over Ash Gold SC in the Asanteman derby at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Ten minutes from the break, Asante Kotoko were awarded a spot-kick after Georges Mfegue Omgba was fouled in the 18-yard box by the Ash Gold defenders. His compatriot Mbella Etouga elected himself to neatly convert the penalty to hand the Porcupine Warriors the lead on the 56th minute.
On the 67th minute, Mbella Etouga Thiery doubled the score for Asante Kotoko with a cool finish before making it 3-0 with a brilliant header via a corner kick effected by Imoro Ibrahim on the 72nd minute of the game.
Ash Gold SC warmed themselves into the fixture with a consolation goal through Elijah Addai but it wasn’t enough for the Miners as it ended in 3-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Following the result, Asante Kotoko have moved up to first position on the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League log with 26 points whiles Ash Gold SC sits above the relegation zone.
