Graham Potter was at the dugout at Stamford Bridge first time since taking over the charges when Chelsea welcome RB Salzburg for UEFA Champions League second game. The Blues were defeated in their first European game at Dinamo Zagreb that saw Thomas Tuchel fired after the surprise loss as former Brighton boss Graham Potter appointed as the German’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.
Potter made three changes to the side that lost at Dinamo Zagreb with Thiago Silva, Marc Cucurella and Jorginho coming in for Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly and Ben Chilwell.
The visitors were able to hold the hosts to a first half goalless draw before Raheem Sterling put Potter’s side ahead early in the second half.
Salzburg pulled the leveler through Noah Okafor 15′ minutes to full time. Chelsea’s chances to qualify out of the group phase has been slimmed but are not completely out of the race due to AC Milan beating Dinamo Zagreb to limit the Croatian side as Group E still looks open.
AC Milan lead the table with 4 points, followed by Dinamo Zagreb 3, RB Salzburg 2 and Chelsea 1 point/ Chelsea will face AC Milan in their next UEFA Champions League game.
