Chelsea step ahead of PSG in bid to sign Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte in the summer transfer window after tabling £52million offer.

Chelsea will reportedly reinforce their squad at the end of the season despite Todd Boehly already spending £600million since taking over from Roman Abramovich.

One area of this reinforcement is understood the midfield with Romeo Lavia and Manuel Ugarte the notable men. The Uruguayan International has impressed at Sporting Lisbon throughout the season seeing a hosts of clubs including Newcastle United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain scouted the midfield on a number of occasions.

Like many European clubs, PSG have already started work for summer signings and among such moves is the Ligue 1 side beginning work for Manuel Ugarte’s transfer.

It has been reported in popular outlets that PSG have advanced in a deal for the South American International.

The French champions learned Chelsea are main rivals in pursuit of Ugarte after the Premier League outfit agreeing deal with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino to become coach at Stamford Bridge next season.

To beat PSG to the player’s signature, Chelsea have surpassed PSG in action after reportedly submitting a bid to Sporting CP for Ugarte. The Football Insider has reported that close sources have told them that Chelsea have submitted £52million offer to the Portuguese side for the Uruguayan.

The outlet has reported that the West London side have submitted an offer that meet Ugarte’s release clause as the player offered a five year contract until 2028.

With no concrete feedback at the moment, talks will continue in coming weeks. But the Lisbon club could accept the offer for Ugarte to complete Premier League move- a dream move and league he sees as the best in the world.

Pochettino is set to officially start as Chelsea’s new manager for another couple of weeks but its understood that he is keen to have some targets secured as early as possible.

Manuel Ugarte made a total of 47 appearances for Sporting Lisbon this season, playing 3574 minuets of football and been key to his side. he has also been capped 8 times by his country at senior level.
