Former Super Eagles midfielder Edema Fuludu has advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) not to get involved in the team selection ahead of the World Cup playoff against Ghana.

Qatar 2022: Eguavoen lists Musa, Ekong, 30 others in provisional Super Eagles squad to battle Black Stars

The Super Eagles will be competing with the Black Stars for a ticket to the 2022 World Cup to be staged in Qatar.

The first leg comes off at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on March 25 before the return leg in Abuja on March 29 to be played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.

Fuludu, a member of the Super Eagles’ squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations title at Tunisia ’94 has urged the NFF to allow the coach and technical team operate independently without any interference ahead of the Ghana game.

“Giving the technical crew its freedom is very key,” he said.

“Coach Augustine Eguavoen should be allowed to do his job without any interference from the NFF. Nobody should dictate for him, or impose players on him when it comes to final team selection for the match.”

He also advised the team to avoid unpardonable errors when they play Ghana at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the first leg.

“Playing the first leg in Ghana is good for the Super Eagles in the sense that it will give the technical crew the room to amend some of the tactical mistakes made. But our players must try as much as possible to avoid unpardonable errors. The football rivalry between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars has come a long way, and we mast stop Ghana this year.”

The Super Eagles are expected in Ghana on Wednesday 23, 2022.

Coach Augustine Eguavoen is expected to make changes to his squad for the doubleheader following the injuries of Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and Kenneth Omeruo.
