Hearts of Oak in advanced negotiations to sign highly-rated Cameroonian striker Junior Kaaba

Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak are reportedly closing on Cameroonian forward Junior Kaaba, according to a report by sportsglitz.com.

With the Ghanaian season coming to end in few months time, like many clubs including Hearts of Oak have commenced their next season’s transfer business.

The defending champions have been linked with several players in Ghana and beyond. They have reportedly began talks in countries like Togo, Ivory Coast and Cameroon but few specific names in these countries including Junior Kaaba have emerged.

According to sportsglitz.com, the Ghana Premier League side have began talks and reached advanced stage of negotiations to sign Kaaba from Cameroonian side Fauve Azur Elite.

Kaaba, 27, has been sensational for his club firing them to the Cameroonian Elite One Group A fourth place . The forward has netted nearly half with 7 goals of Fauve Azur Elite’s total 20 league goals so far. Fauve Azur Elite are 10 points below leaders Astres of Duoala who have 29 points after 12 games.

Kaaba’s capabilities have also earned him 5 assists- with the two aspects of stats justifiable enough to catch Hearts of Oak’s attention.

Hearts’ interest in Kaaba may not come as a goal scoring problem at the Accra based side having the likes of forwards Afriyie Barnieh, Isaac Mensah and Kwadwo Obeng Junior enjoying fine forms this season.

This means, unlike many clubs who may struggle without the presence of a proper center forward, Hearts can compete in domestic competitions with Afriyie Barnieh, Isaac Mensah and Obeng Junior next season.

However, the may need the extra edge in continental showpiece as they are likely to book a place in the Caf Confederation Cup.

Kaaba can partly provide the edge if signed. Hearts are in battle with Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman for the Cameroonian’s signature. Al Hilal have reportedly contacted the player over a possible move at the end of the season but Kaaba has told he is willing to move to the Ghana Premier League next term.

Kaaba is the third Cameroonian International to be heavily linked with a move to the Ghana Premier League within a year. At the beginning of the season, Franck Mbella Etouga and George Mfegue joined Asante Kotoko and the two have made huge headlines in the Ghanaian top flight.

The former has grabbed 18 goals in the league to emerge as the top scorer, leading second place Yaw Annor with two more goals off summit of the ladder. Mbella could leave the Ghana Premier League at the end of the season just a year into his 3-year supposed stay after attracting several interests from Europe.

Mfegue has a stats of double figures and Kaaba may want to emulate the good names made by his compatriots.

Kaaba has been compensated by Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song, for his blistering start to the season, as he makes the cut in the list of 25 local players to camp from May 23 to 27.
