Sports/ Football (Kumasi, Ghana) Sep 3 (Futball Surgery Sports)- Otto Ado has asked fans to keep supporting the Black Stars as Ghana prepare to face Angola in 2025 AFCON qualifiers opener.

The support of the Black Stars means fans come to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium Thursday to watch and cheer Ghana to victory over 2024 AFCON quarter-finalists Angola.

Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has expressed deep gratitude to fans for their steadfast support as the Black Stars prepare for their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Palancas Negras.

Speaking ahead of the game, Addo praised the fans for backing the team during challenging times, particularly during their comeback victory over the Central African Republic.

“To say thank you for our last support against the Central African Republic really impresses me. Even though we were 2-1 behind, they still supported us fully. We need your support, and we thank the supporters for the last game. Keep showing up and keep supporting,” Addo told Peace FM.

The Black Stars held their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium Monday and have since flown to Kumasi to continue their preparations for the AFCON qualifier first two games.

They will face Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 5, followed by a match against Niger in Morocco on September 9, as they aim to secure their place in the prestigious tournament.

Addo has returned to management as the head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana and has turned to table around going three games without a defeat.

Otto Addo’s side draw 2-2 with Uganda in international friendly before beating Central African Republic and Mali in 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Ghana joint lead Group I with 9 points after 4 games so far.

Ghana are hoping to qualify for 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco and hope to break a 42-year old title curse. Ghana have come close to winning to trophy twice in recent times against Egypt in 2010 and Ivory Coast in 2015.

Ghana’s game against Angola wouldn’t be easy but the support base at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will be key with the visitors posing as an emerging force in African football. Angola reached quarter-finals of 2024 AFCON and lost to finalists Nigeria.
