Ghana ruling party and main opposition flag bearers to file nominations for Presidential election

News/ Ghana (Kumasi, Ghana) Sep 8 (Futball Surgery News)- Ghana’s ruling party New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will file his nomination for the 2024 presidential election on Monday September 9.

A statement issued by the General Secretary o the NPP said Dr Bawumia will be accompanied by his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Party’s National Chairman and General Secretary, the Majority Leader in Parliament, and other NPP leaders.

After filing his presidential nomination, Dr Bawumia will address party members and the public at the NPP headquarters at 9:00am.

“The NPP is pleased to announce to the general public that the Party’s 2024 Presidential Candidate, H.E Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would, on Monday, September 9, 2024, file his presidential nomination at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission.

The Vice President and Leader of the Party would be accompanied by his Running Mate and Vice Presidential Candidate, Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Party’s National Chairman and General Secretary, the Majority Leader in Parliament, and some few Party Leaders.

After filing his presidential nomination, the Presidential Candidate would be addressing party sympathizers and the general public at the Party’s National Headquarters at 9:00am.

Members of the Party and the general public are invited to be part of this historic moment of POSSIBILITY in Ghana’s Next Chapter.”

The NPP have held two terms of office since Ghanaians voted them led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo into power in 2016 elections.

Bawumia’s main rivalry in the December’s poll John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will also file his nomination tomorrow Monday.

Mahama will be accompanied by his running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, spokesperson for the Mahama campaign, confirmed the filing, underscoring its importance and the campaign’s focus on inclusivity and economic recovery.

“This is a momentous occasion for the NDC as we gear up to build the Ghana we want together. Our campaign focuses on jobs, accountability, development, and a better future for all Ghanaians,” said Madam Mogtari.

Among his key promises, Mahama has promised to strengthen Ghana’s educational system by investing in infrastructure and teacher training to ensure no child is left behind. He also aims to improve healthcare services, committing to provide accessible and free primary healthcare for every Ghanaian.

Meanwhile, Mahama will embark on a four-day tour of the Bono Region starting Sunday.

The tour will cover all 12 constituencies, including courtesy calls on traditional councils, community engagements, and meetings with religious leaders. He is also expected to address the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.

During the tour, Mahama will host a youth forum at the Sunyani Technical University. He has pledged to revitalize the economy by creating job opportunities through innovative policies and initiatives aimed at spurring growth.

Ghanaians will go to the polls for one of them as President of the country on 7th December.
