Nigeria coach Austin Eguavoen to ring changes to squad ahead of Ghana clash

Super Eagles interim coach Austin Eguavoen is expected to make changes to his squad for the World Cup playoff against Ghana.

The former Nigerian international named a 25-man squad for the doubleheader earlier this month.

The Super Eagles have been dealt with a huge blow as Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and Kenneth Omeruo are a major doubt for the game. The duo have sustained injuries at their respective clubs and will be unavailable for the doubleheader according to reports.

Coach Eguavoen is reported to be making changes to the squad by finding better replacements for the two players.

Alanyaspor defender Kenneth Chidozie Awaziem is likely to replace the injured Kenneth Omeruo.

Ogenyi Onazi whose call up to the national team has been heavily criticized is likely to be snubbed and replaced by Innocent Bonke of French Ligue 1 side Clermont Foot.

The Super Eagles team will open camp on Monday March 21, 2022.

The team is expected to arrive in Ghana on Wednesday March 23 with a chartered flight.

Nigeria battle it out with Ghana for one of the five slots to represent Africa at the World Cup to be staged in Qatar later this year.
