Google’s operation in Ghana is open with no legal actions against the American technology company unlike in other countries where Google blocked temporarily or permanently.

Many people talk about Google, use the company’s search engine and other related products and services than their main competitors Bing, DuckDuckGo and Yahoo.

The use of DuckDuckGo and Google in tertiary institution space- among students, tutors, lecturers and administrators continue to increase in the present day. This means Google and Google scholar remain the leading search engines in universities, colleges, training and vocational schools in this time despite the growing use of DuckDuckGo and Bing.
Some of the demand prompting the use of Google search engine include information for thesis, project work, assignment, information for their daily life, lecturer’s/lesson notes, and presentations.
Google’s popularity in the country has grown to a point that if any debate, question or a worry pop-up in the daily life of a Ghanaian, you hear people saying “go and ask ‘Google’ meaning the search platform is the ideal place to bring out the ultimate truth that people are seeking.
From further observation, market women, second hand clothes sellers, hair dressers, shoe sellers, boutique workers and businesses that require some amount of knowledge to run use Google search engine for information they needed.
Most private business hair dressers and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students learn more about their job online through Google and other related services like YouTube.
