Asante Kotoko Transfer News: Ghana Premier League leaders will strengthen squad with or without Frank Mbella next season

It appears no secret that Asante Kotoko will sign new players ahead of their upcoming African campaign. The major priority is set in signing players from African countries with Cameroon the likeliest due to nationals Mbella and Mfegue recently exploiting the Ghanaian top flight.

Asante Kotoko Communications Director David Obeng Nyarko made the transfer revelation when he said the club will strengthen the squad next season with or without Franck Thierry Etouga Mbella.

Interest in the Cameroonian International continues to grow along the season where at the early stage of the season small European clubs and getting to the end of the season top teams showing the intent to sign the center forward.

Initially, African giants Al Ahly, French side Metz, Turkey champions Fenerbahçe and 18th placed Ligue side Saint-Étienne had attempted to sign Mbella but since last week UEFA Champions League giants Inter Milan, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have reportedly inquired about the availability of Cameroonian Asante Kotoko star.

They reportedly may battle for Mbella’s signature when the European transfer window opens in June. And the Porcupine Warriors are more likely to sell their prized asset next season due to financial stress.

Mbella’s impressive form in his debut season in the Ghanaian top-flight league has seen him scored 19 goals to become the Ghana Premier League top scorer.

According to the Communications Director, Asante Kotoko will look to improve the squad with new signings next season ahead of their Africa campaign.

“We as a club have our plans for next season. Before the start of the season, we brought a player from Brazil in the name of Fabio Gama and other good players even from Division One League,” he told Asempa FM.

“Whether Mbella leaves or stays, we will do proper reinforcement because we will be playing Africa next season,” he added.

Frank Etouga Mbella is looking to catch up with the 23-goal record in the Ghana Premier League this season.

Amid their transfer plans, the league leaders have been linked with Senegalese striker and Yaw Annor in latest developments. The Reds have also been tracking the likes of Boris Junior Mandjui, Rabin Ousmane Sanon, Ngomo Takougoum, Herve Elame and Kevin Alphose Assiga for a while now and despite no major developments in these situations, Kotoko are confident they may secure some of these players.

According to reports in Ghana, Kotoko have reached agreement in place to sign unnamed defender with the deal set to be announced right at the end of the season.
