Asamaoh Gyan apologises for comments over Majeed Ashimeru Black Stars snub for Nigeria game

In Ghana’s bid to face Nigeria in World Cup playoff, Asamoah Gyan has become the latest former Black Stars player to criticize Otto Addo’s squad for the mouthwatering clash.

While naming a 27-man list for the Super Green Eagles game, Anderlecht Majeed Ashimeru was overlooked and Gyan has hit on the Ghana technical team.

But the former forward has apologised for his earlier comments made over the exclusion of Ashimeru from the the Black Stars squad but insists the ex- WAFA star still deserves to be part of the list.

Ghana coach Otto Addo, announced a 27 man squad earlier today for the crunchy double header against Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers playoffs.

“This guy @MajeedAshimeru is the best midfielder in Ghana, after @Thomaspartey22 PERIOD. I have kept quiet on this but this nonsense must stop. Smh.”
However, the former Udinese and Sunderland forward few moments after, has retracted his earlier comments but insists Majeed Ashimeru deserved to be part of the team. He wrote;
“I still insist that Ashimeru deserves to be in this current Black Stars BUT am sorry for using the word ‘Nonsense’ in my statement so I unreservedly withdraw that word , I was carried by my emotions. Go Ghana.”
Full squad is expected by the close of today and will relocate to Kumasi to further on with their preparations towards the crunchy tie coming up.
