Police launches manhunt for suspected shooter at Awutu Senya East

Ghana police said on Saturday afternoon that it has launched a manhunt for a suspected shooter in Central region’s Awutu Senya East during the country’s unprecedent elections.

The elections, which most Ghanaians are waiting for a win for either vice president Mahamudu Bawumia or former president John Dramani Mahama, has been climaxed with less violence underlining Ghana’s understanding of democracy.

However, few electoral centers are experiencing flashes of electoral malpractices, shooting and unwanted actions. The Ghana police in connection with the Electoral Commission have issued the caution to bring offenders to the law to ensure peaceful, free and fair elections.

A man reportedly shot another individual at the electoral area of Awutu Senya East, left his car and fled the scene to evade arrest.

In a statement issued by ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Police Service, it was confirmed that law enforcement officers are actively pursuing the fugitive.

“Our personnel are working tirelessly to locate and arrest the individual responsible for this heinous act.”

“We want to assure the public that no effort will be spared in bringing the culprit to justice,” ACP Ansah-Akrofi stated.

She assured the public that the suspect would be apprehended and made to face the full rigours of the Ghanaian law.

The police have urged the public to provide any relevant information that could assist in locating the suspect.

Little is known about the circumstances but Futball Surgery understand investigations have been launched to unearth the incident.

As part of the few negative occurrences in the country’s true democracy, an Electoral Commission officer named Dery Joseph was arrested earlier the day for alleged electoral malpractice at the Kintampo South Constituency in the Bono East Region.

The officer is currently under investigation for issuing approximately 15 ballot papers to voters at the Ampesika-Bayere polling station, which the ballot reportedly did not contain the first presidential candidate Bawumia.
