Ghanaian teenage sensation Mathew Cudjoe backed to succeed at Scottish side Dundee United

Former Blackburn defender Charlie Mulgrew believes Ghanaian youngster Mathew Anim Cudjoe will succeed at Dundee United after impressing against Rangers last Saturday.

The 18-year-old played 55 minutes as The Terrors were defeated 2-0 by Rangers at Ibrox Stadium, with goals from James Tavernier and Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo.

Dundee United host champions-elect Celtic on Wednesday night before wrapping up the season against Ross County in Dingwall the following Saturday.

Cudjoe is tipped to feature in both games and finished the season strongly.

“Matty’s a really good player. He’s a young boy who needs game time,” Mulgrew said as quoted by scotsman.com.

“It was a hard one for him against Rangers, not having a lot of the ball. When we do, it suits his style a lot more.

“He’s definitely one for the future. He can really kick on if he wants to, but for any young player, it’s a long, hard road with ups and downs.

“Hopefully he can come through for us and be a top player and go on to big things.”

Cudjoe has appeared twice for Dundee United in all competitions since joining from Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities.
