Sheikh Jassim submits final Manchester United bid and sets deadline for Glazer Family

Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani has made a fifth and final offer to purchase Manchester United.

The bid from the Qatari consortium is to assume 100 per cent control of the club from the Glazer family.

A deadline of Friday has been set for the offer to be accepted or they will withdraw from the process.

The bid is understood to still be short of the Glazers’ £6billion valuation.

Their rival bidder, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, still believes he is in the box seat to take ownership of the Red Devils.

Ratcliffe’s bid would see brothers Joel and Avram Glazer retain some shares in the club.

Brothers Joel and Avram Glazer are believed to prefer Ratcliffe’s proposal as it would see then retain some of their shares.

No preferred bidder has yet been named by the Raine Group, who are handing the sale process, which started as far back as November.

The summer transfer window is fast approaching and the drawn-out takeover process could affect United’s plans.

Manager Erik ten Hag wants to bring a striker and midfielder into the club to build on their top four finish this season.

Harry Kane has been linked, but doubts remain over whether Tottenham would sell to a Premier League rival.

They have stepped up interest in Atalanta youngster Rasmus Hojlund, while they have also entered into talks with Chelsea over a deal to sign Mason Mount.
