Senegal stun Gambia to lift Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt

Senegal stunned Gambia in a thrilling final to win the Total Energies U -20 African Cup of Nations on Saturday, for the first time in their history.

Both Faye Souleymana and Camara Mamadou scored for Head Coach Malik Daf on the night.

Senegal, The Gambia, Nigeria, and Tunisia will now represent Africa in the U-20 World Cup in Indonesia, which is scheduled to take place from May 20 to June 11, 2023.

Senegal has already won the 2021 African Nations Championship in Cameroon, the 2022 African Nations Championship in Algeria, the 2022 Beach Soccer Championship in Mozambique, and the just concluded U-20 AFCON in Egypt.

Senegal went unbeaten and did not concede a single goal in six matches. No single team, including the high-scoring Gambians, could penetrate the impregnable walls of the team.

Souleymane Faye won the TotalEnergies Man of the Match of the final match. Landing Badji also won the TotalEnergies best goalkeeper award.
