Official: Al Ahly announce Pitso Mosimane as new coah

Talks regarding Al Ahly’s pursuit of Pitso Mosimane have circulated in the African media for the last three days.

Those talks stemmed from the doubtful state of Rene Weiler at the Cairo based club and the former side have officially announced the Swiss’s replacement in Mosimane.

“The club’s board of directors decided in its meeting today, Thursday, 1-10-2020, headed by captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, to approve what was mentioned in the memorandum submitted by the Planning Committee in coordination with the general supervisor of the ball, which included the following.”

“Termination of the contractual relationship with Mr Rene Weiler, coach of the first team, in accordance with the terms of his contract with the club due to the difficulty of achieving his urgent demands, which were not included in the contract clauses and contradict the interest and stability of the team at this important stage, as well as the players’ need to focus and prepare Powers for the next stage,”  a club statement read.

While Ahly were ready to show Weiler the exit door, Mamelodi Sundowns were only confident of a longer future with Mosimane.

Having tied himself down at Gauteng, at least until 2024, in what seems a ad hoc measure was a way the 54-year old could deploy to prize himself away from Sundowns.

In light of that, Mosimane resigned out of his latest 4-year contract renewal, to now, seal a move to African powerhouse Ahly.

He put pen to paper signing a 2-year contract while Ahly also confirmed that the South African International is allowed to bring in his own assistant coach, physical trainer and performance analyst.

“The contract with Mr Pitso Mosimane, South African Technical Director of the first team, as of tomorrow, Friday, 2-10-2020, for a period of two seasons, with his assistant, which includes a general coach, a physical trainer and a performance analyst.”
