Kaizer Chiefs legend Collins Mbesuma reveals how Glamour Boys new signing Lazarous Kambole can start scoring

Former Kaizer Chiefs super star Collins Mbesuma has urged club to give Zambian ace Lazarous Kambole more playing time to help the player adopt to life at Chiefs.

Kambole was signed by the Glamour Boys in July 2019 from Zambian giants Zesco United but he has not been offered much playing time under Chiefs boss Ernst Middendorp so far.

In as the Zambian awaits his chance to be offered regular football at Chiefs, Mbesuma has already started calling for the unleash of Kambole in the Premier Soccer League.

“I think he played [CAF] Champions League, he was scoring again and again, so I think it’s just a matter of time,” Mbesuma tells KickOff.com.

“You can find that you score two goals, three goals and as a striker that brings you luck you know. Sometimes as a striker when you don’t score you still have to try… the more you try the more you miss, even the easiest goal because you just want to put it in.

“But if he finds one goal you will see a different player because I watch him, he is a national team player, and with Zesco he was playing in the Champions League… he was on top of his game you know.

“Let him just find his feet, the coach and the supporters, and the management must be patient with him. For me he is a good striker, no doubt about that, it’s just a matter of time to find that one goal, two goals, then you will see.

“I think he is the one who scored the fastest hat-trick in less than five minutes in the Champions League. It’s just a matter of time. Some take long, some adapt immediately, so it’s just a matter of time.”

‘Ntofontofo’ says the Chipolopolo forward can draw inspiration from his own struggles when he arrived at Chiefs.

When the 36-year-old first arrived in South Africa he struggled with injuries but ended up plundering 25 goals in the 2004/05 season as Chiefs won the league, which remains the most league goals scored in a single PSL season.

“[Laughs] Yeah, I think for me it was a different story because the first game I was injured. So I was in and out injured, in and out I played there, and I took long to heal,” he recalls.

“I think at some point I was not even ready but I tried to play you know. The injury was getting worse but I was supposed to rest. I was with the national team so the injury took a bit longer.

“But I think we are different players, so for me he knows what to do better. He just has to be calm and believe in himself, in his ability. Whatever he achieved at Zesco, he can do it at Chiefs.”
