Kgotso Moleko set to leave Kaizer Chiefs after bidding emotional farewell

The gates of Kaizer Chiefs’ base in Naturena has been abuzz with activity as one defender appears to have bid farewell to the club after a decade of service, while another appears to have announced his arrival.

Chiefs managed to salvage their shambolic season after mustering to back-to-back wins in their final two matches to somehow sneak into the top eight.

One thing is clear – an overhaul is needed if the Glamour Boys are to reclaim their glory days.

Indications are that there have been changes in the Chiefs setup already. The club recently parted ways with boss Gavin Hunt after just seven months in charge and now it seems the long-serving defender Kgotso Moleko has bid farewell to the club in an Instagram post.

“Solly moholo (WA lebona lesedi LA Morena) thank you so much to everyone who was there for me in Tuff road.. God bless you all @kcfcofficial for life,” Moleko wrote in what appears to be a farewell message to the club and its supporters.

Moleko, who joined the club from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2012, was amongst a host of Chiefs players whose contracts were set to expire at the end of June – and if his post was anything to go by, it appears that the 31-year-old’s time at Naturena is up.

Meanwhile, AmaZulu defender Sibusiso Mabiliso, who, as reported by the Siya crew is set to join Chiefs, has penned an emotional farewell message to Usuthu where he spent three years to “take up his new challenge.”

“Today I am saying goodbye to everyone at @amazulu_fc after my three-and-half year stay with the club. Thank you for our time together, we have created great memories and I felt part of the family.

“To the President, Mr Zungu and all the staff I’m humbled and grateful to have been given the opportunity to play for this amazing club. I will always be grateful for everything that you’ve done for me, and this club will always have a special place in my heart.

“To the coaches( @bennimac17 @vasilimanousakis @siyabonga.bhele.nomvethe @moeneeb_slimkat_josephs , thank you so much for helping me to reach my potential and bringing out the best in me. You taught me so much, but also went beyond that to show your love and care. I’m so grateful for all your efforts.

“You’ve influenced my life for the better. I’m looking forward to what’s next in my career and what new challenge I’ll face,” he wrote in part.”

Mabiliso is amongst a host of players expected to make their way to Chiefs next season, with the likes of Kgaogelo Sekgota, Sifiso Hlanti and Phathutshedzo Nange all expected to join up with Amakhosi at the end of June.
