It’s believed the 19-capped Cranes keeper who serves as an understudy to Sundowns current number one Dennis Onyango was recommended to the technical team by the seven-time league winner.
Having left Kenyan Premier League side Sofapaka at the end of last season, Watenga who recently began training with the Brazilians first-team is available to sign on a free transfer.
According to reports in Ugandan media, a three-year contract awaits the shot-stopper, should he impress the new-look technical of Manqoba Mngqithi, Rhulani Mokwena and Steve Komphela.
