Lehlohonolo Majoro: AmaZulu striker looking forward to end Mamelodi Sundowns PSL unbeaten run

AmaZulu striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has made a bold claim about Usuthu’s chances of ending Mamelodi Sundowns’ unbeaten streak.

Last season’s DStv Premiership runners-up are set to host the reigning champions in league action on Monday evening at a point in the domestic season where the two clubs are enjoying differing fortunes.

AmaZulu are currently sixth on the log with 24 points while the unbeaten Masandawana appear set to storm to another title after opening a massive 17-point gap over nearest rivals Royal AM and Stellenbosch FC.

However, the apparent gulf in class has not intimidated veteran striker Majoro, who believes Usuthu can upset the odds and end Sundowns’ remarkable 17-match unbeaten run when they meet on Monday.

“It was a very tough game against Marumo Gallants,” the 35-year-old told the club’s media team, reflecting on Amazulu’s form heading into the match.

“They are a very good football team and they made us work extra hard, but with the squad [we have] and the dedication that we showed, it resulted in us never giving up and making sure that we get maximum points.

“It was a good win for us after a very long time without winning games, and I think it came at the right time with us set to play the unbeaten team [in the league], Mamelodi Sundowns on Monday.

“So, we don’t have much to prepare for because the games we’ve been playing have come thick and fast.

“We’ve played them already [this season] and they beat us by 1-0 away, but now that they’re coming to us, we have to double our efforts and make sure that we do everything in our power to get maximum points.

“It’s not going to be an easy game because they are the reigning champions and they’ve been showing great form.

“They are unbeaten but with the squad we have, and the players we have, and the commitment we have shown over the past couple of weeks, I’m confident that we can do the business come game day.
