Chelsea agree £89million deal with Bayern Leverkusen to sign Kai Havertz

Chelsea have agreed £89million deal with Bayern Leverkusen to bring Kai Havertz to the Premier League this summer, according to reports in Germany.

The Blues have been on a spending spree this transfer window, seeing to it that Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr make a switch to Stamford Bridge- though Silva and Sarr’s deals are on the record, free transfers.

Chelsea have been bargaining with Bundesliga side Leverkusen to add their prize asset Havertz to the crop of stars heading to West London but agreement over the transfer has never been reached.

That’s until Wednesday evening. According to Sky in Germany’s latest report, negotiations were concluded on Wednesday, and Havertz wants the transfer to be finalised as soon as possible – although he is yet to undergo a medical and remains with the Germany squad for their Nations League clashes against Spain and Switzerland.

Frank Lampard’s side have agreed to pay £72million up front whiles £17million are expected to be paid in as add-ons, according to Sky in Germany.

Chelsea have offered summer signing Malang Sarr, the centre-back, to Leverkusen on a loan basis for the entire 2020/21 season to smooth completion of Havertz’s transfer.

The German International, 21, should Chelsea announce his transfer, will become Chelsea’s seventh signing this summer, after Ziyech, Werner, Chilwell, Silva, Mbuyamba and Sarr.

And further transfer business is expected, as Chelsea are preparing to table another bid for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy after their initial offer was rejected.

Beside, West Ham United’s Declan Rice also remains a target of Frank Lampard’s before October’s transfer deadline.
