Barcelona to battle Chelsea for Porto left-back Alex Telles when summer transfer window opnes

According to reports in Spain, Barcelona have identified Alex Telles as a top transfer target and are ready to battle Chelsea for the left-back’s signature when the summer transfer window opens.

Chelsea have long been linked with the Porto star- who is unwilling to sign a new deal at Estádio do Dragão- and the Portuguese side are planning to sell him before he turns a free man next year.

Barcelona now view the 27-year-old as a long term replacement for aged Jordi Alba, 31, and his situation at Porto is been assessed by the Catalan club.

Despite Chelsea’s interest in Telles, the 27-year-old left-back is only considered an option thus if Chelsea’s move for first on the list Ben Chilwell fails.

This will hand Barcelona a huge advantage in Telles pursuit at any side of the transfer if Chelsea continue to maintain Chilwell as their first option.

Porto have placed a valuation of around £37million on the left-back, and raising the money for the transfer wouldn’t be a big deal for Quique Setién side.
