Thiago Silva set for Chelsea medicals on Thursday as Frank Lampard plans to make Brazilian captain

Chelsea are closer than ever to signing Thiago Silva on a free transfer after the two parties agreed to the Brazilians medicals on Thursday.

Silva emerges a sudden target for Frank Lampard when it became obvious that the Brazilian will leave Parc des Princes at the ended season when his contract expires.

Thomas Tuchel decided to offer Silva a new contract to remain in the French Ligue 1 for at least next season but there appears opposition from within as sporting director Leonardo wants the 35-year old to leave the club instead.

Chelsea have long been touted as favorites, ahead of Fiorentina, to secure Thiago Silva’s signature.

And they have agreed personal terms with the defender along with arranged medicals- which is now a major subject to completion of the transfer.

The former PSG star is set to fly to London, that’s if nothing changes, and completes his examination on Thursday, and the transfer will be expected to announced some hours later.

If Silva completes his move to Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard is planning to hand the Brazilian Chelsea’s captain armband according to the Sun’s latest report.

The English trainer is understood to challenge for the Premier League title next season and sees Silva as key player- who will organize Chelsea’s back line for the title chase.

Silva experience counted in PSG slim defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League final after keeping Robert Lewandowski very quite in the game.
