Florentino Perez comments on Real Madrid star leaves door open for Chelsea and Manchester United in summer

Chelsea and Manchester United have received a huge boost in pursuit of French World Cup winner Raphael Varane after Florentino Perez throwing doubt about the defender’s future at Santiago Bernabeu.

Varane, 28, has been consistent for the Los Blancos over the past 10 years helping the Laliga giants to 3 league titles and four Champions League glories. While his age and achievements should earn him a longer stay at Real Madrid, the centre-back is believed on the brinks of parting ways with his current employers, revealed by AS and many sources in England.

Many sources in England? That is because the country looks the likeliest destination if Varane finally part ways with the Spanish side as Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United knee on his services to strengthen their defense next term.

For Manchester United, they have long- since signing Harry Maguire from Leicester City in 2016- been on the hunt for another young but experienced center-back to partner the English International, however the problem is that they have been unsatisfied with the numbers they have scouted.

Varane is believed to be a big admiring figure of Ole Gunnar Solskjær but Manchester United may face stiffer competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City who perhaps have defensive problems to resolve in the summer.

Meanwhile, the 28-year old could possible play in homeland after Paris Saint-Germain interested in signing the defender.

For Chelsea, although the Blues have been linked with Bayern Munich ace Niklas Süle and Decline Rice, Varane appears the one target Thomas Tuchel hopes to sign at the end of this season given the French’s versatility.

At any time, not at least, until Florentino Perez’s recent explosive talk on Varane would make difficult for any club to succeed in luring the French International. The 28 year old has a year left on his current contract  and Real Madrid have opened negotiations for extension but talks have stalled as it stands now.

That’s becuase Mr. Florentino Perez is unready to soften his stance for new agreement over renewal where the player’s new terms could possibly be met. And Perez latest comments means Varane could leave in summer especially if Chelsea and Manchester United can up their game plan.

It revealed that Varane has told sources close to him that he will want to finish next season with Real Madrid in order to leave as a free agent but the Real Madrid President wants to sell him at the end of this season to boost Madrid financial standing.

The Laliga giants seems to be impacted heavily by the collapse of the money-spinning European Super League which was to generate €500million for participating clubs.

With all six Premier League clubs together with three Serie A giants pulling out shortly on Tuesday right after agreeing to the pact on Sunday, the breakeaway ESL will not exist and give financial zero to remaining Madrid and Barcelona.

The sudden twist in the ESP due to widespread condemnation has make incapable of Real Madrid meeting new demands of Sergio Ramos and Varane and future transfers of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

Perez has already hinted that Real Madrid could also lose the signature of Ramos whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign due to the financial challenges.

Perez said as quoted by Calciomercato via Juvefc.com: “I love Sergio Ramos, but the club’s financial situation is complicated. Nobody puts money into this club. Will he leave Real Madrid? I did not say this. A lot of things can happen. Let’s see at the end of the season.”

While similar suit can be found with Varane, Chelsea are reportedly the only club capable of matching the French’s wages and asking price. In order for Zidane’s side not to loss him for free after end of next season, Madrid are prepared to sell Varane for £60million this summer instead with the Los Blancos planning to go with incoming David Alaba, Eder Militao and Nacho in central defense.

The Madrid supposedly asking price will Chelsea the urge in the race for Varane since they remain the most financially stable club in Europe after the covid-19 pandemic.
