EXCLUSIVE: Black Stars coach C.K. Akunnor names first squad for Ghana double head against Sudan

Charles Kwablan Akunnor has named his first ever squad as Black Stars head coach ahead of Ghana’s double head against Sudan in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.

Ghana host Sudan for Match Day 3 of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers on 27th this month before the Stars travel to Sudan for Match 4 of the qualifiers four days later.

And like many people will call, ‘this is the time we’ve all been waiting for’, to see Akunnor name his  first set of players since taking over from Akwesi Appiah in January this year.

The former Black Stars captain has release a 23-man squad to play Sudan in the AFCON double header. The names were nonexclusive of senior players Andre Ayew, Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew and Mubarak Wakaso.

There was debutant call up for Tariqe Fosu-Henry who has been sensation for Brentford this term so far and Eugene Ansah who plays for Hapoel Ra’anana in the Israeli Premier League.

The list also includes debutants from the Ghana Premier League Habib Mohammed of Asante Kotoko, Kwadwo Amoako of Ash Gold and Richard Atta from Hearts of Oak whilst Yahaya Mohammed returns to the senior national team for the first time since 2007.
