Bayern Munich send birthday message to former Black Stars defender Samuel Osei Kuffour on 44th birthday

The Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have sent special birthday message to former player Samuel Osei Kuffour on his 44th birthday.

Osei Kuffour enter into his 44 years on earth on Thursday and has been celebrated on Bayern’s twitter handle.

Bayern posted on their twitter page “A treble celebration today. Happy 44th Birthday, Sammy #Kuffour! #MiaSanMia #FCBayern.

The former Black Stars defender joined the Bavarians from Torino in 1993 and made close to 250 appearances for the German side before leaving for Seria A giants AS Roma in 2005.

The 44-year old Ghanaian Ex footballer lifted 14 titles including the Champions League in Bayern Munich colors while featuring in 5 AFCON tournaments for the Black Stars of Ghana.

Kuffour made his first and only FIFA World Cup final appearance in 2006 when Ghana for the first time in their history qualified to the world’s top flight football.

Kuffour was also part of the Bayern team which lost to Manchester United due to two late goals in the 1999 Champions League final, famously beating the ground in frustration afterwards, a gesture that endeared him to Bayern supporters.

He also became the youngest defender of all-time to score in the Champions League, at the age of 18 years, 61 days during the match against FC Spartak Moscow on 2 November 1994, which ended in a 2–2 draw.

Kuffour is now serving on the GFA International Relations Committee.
