Ghana Premier League outfit Asante Kotoko have completed their third summer signing in Patrick Asmah from Seria A side Atalanta.

The Porcupine Warriors have been in negotiation with the Ghanaian International since the government of Ghana gave green light to return of football.

Few details including agreement with player’s reps and paper works was stalling the deal but with Kotoko speeding up their approach, they have succeeded in landing the former Ghana U20 International.

Kotoko posted on their twitter handle on Saturday morning “Welcome Patrick Asmah from Atalanta BC to confirm the transfer.

Kotoko beat off competition from Seria B side Frosinone Calcio before bringing Asmah to complete his medicals last Friday including mandatory coronavirus test.

The left-back joined Atalanta in August 2016 but he has been in and out of loan spells to Avellino in 2017, Salernitana and Senica in 2018. He netted 2 goals in 19 league appearances for Senica in the 2018/2019 season Slovakia Premier League.

The 24-year old has struggled to keep a place in Atalanta first team and now sees the Ghana Premier League as the best place to re-launch his career. He signed a three year deal with the Ghanaian giants.

In september 2018, Asmah make a big revelation of his support for Seria A champions. The left revealed that he will play for Juventus before he retires from football.

Asked if the Slovakian league was a better than the Italian league, the 22-year-old opined, “It is far better than the Seria A. They play exciting and open football but the Italian league is more aggressive.”

” There are no racism here [ Slovakia] and i’ve not faced any racist chant from fans.”
