Match Report: Hearts of Oak 0-0 Karela United as it happened, Ghana Premier League 2020/2021

Bottomers Hearts of Oak failed to beat Karela United in Friday night football in Accra as the league leaders hold Hearts to a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.

There were many talking points to this game as Hearts of Oak were in search of their first victory in this season’s Ghana Premier League.

Karela United were hoping to become the first club to record three consecutive victories in the Ghana Premier League having defeated Inter Allies and Dreams FC before they faced Hearts in a Match-Day 4 clash.

Kosta Papic completed a move back to Hearts three days ago and looked forward to pick his first three points as Hearts head coach but only ended up seeing his side draw for a second time this season.

Thanks to Karela United shot-stopper Richard Baidoo who is on loan from Hearts, denying the Phobians a goal on several glorious moments in the game.

However, an improved team display saw right-back Larry Sumaila clinched MOTM award against a tough Karela United side.

Both teams created chances to win the tie but it was Hearts who came the closest to scoring first was when Patrick Razak struck the woodwork early in the second half.

In later part of the game, Baidoo was the man between Hearts of Oak and victory after preving Kwadwo Obeng Jr in stoppage time of additional time.

Today’s draw see Karela United extend their lead to 8 points and host King Faisal in their next Ghana Premier League game.

Papic’s side now sit last in the Ghana Premier League with 2 points and will host Dreams FC in their next Ghana Premier League game.
