PSL: Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates target Karabo Tshepe confirms departure from Black Leopards after club terminating contract

Karabo Tshepe has left Black Leopards after confirming termination of his contract by long-served club Leopards in the South African Premier Soccer League.

Tshepe, was one of the influential players during his nine period at Lidoda Duvha after joining in 2011. The attacking midfielder was loaned to Magesi Football Club in July 2016 and returned to Leopards after just a season to begin a fresh life.

While keeping an eye catching displays at Leopards since 2017, Tshepe, 31, has saw limited minutes under his belt this season, making only five appearances and scoring ones before the season was halted due to coronavirus crisis in South Africa.

“I am no longer a Black Leopards player. I know that people have been asking where I am,” Tshepe told Daily Sun. The truth is that my contract with Leopards has been terminated and the club management have their own reasons why.”

“I cannot tell you the reason why. “To be honest I do not understand why my contract was terminated. But I have just taken it like a man and I have moved on with my life.”

Many could predict Tshepe’s departure when he was surrounded with several controversies in March last year after reports claim he and teammate Joseph Mhlongo had invited women into their hotel room ahead of away game against Bloemfontein Celtic which they were leapfrogged 3-0.

That saw Tshepe sidelined to the bench but warmed himself back into former boss Dylan Kerr’s starting eleven later. All his five appearances this season is from the bench but turned a complete noticeable absentee from Leopard’s Match Day squads since late January.

Tshepe prepares to get his footballing career underway after highlighting training to get fit when the season resumes.

“I have been in the game for long and I understand that these things happen. I am training alone at home,” he added. “My focus now is to stay fit and get a team next season. It is tough to train alone due to lockdown.”

He has been linked with both giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates some season back and would prefer to seal a move to any of his former targets but that would not be easy considering Tshepe’s current age.
