Bernard Mensah marks improved performance in Beskitas friendly win over Antalyaspor

Ghana star Bernard Mensah marked improved performance in Besiktas friendly win over Antalyspor last Friday as the Turkish top flight side bounced back to winning ways ahead of new league season.

Mensah sealed a move to the Turkish giants from Kayserispor before start of this season and even played his first game for his new side despite being on the lose side against Sivasspor in debut game.

The Ghanaian International was substituted in his first game but has recorded an improved performance after grabbing a first half stoppage time goals for Besiktas at the Vodafone Arena.

Besik, who have improved their squad in a bid to lift the 2020-2021 Turkish Super Lig, began the game quite well, leapfrogging the way side just three minutes into the game as new signing Hüseyin Atakan Üner gave the deserving lead.

The home side continued to increase the pressure for the second goal but were closely contented, waiting until the 40’ minute mark, where Mensah caused an eyebrow, going one-on-one with Antalyspor shot-stopper Kaplan before the Ghanaian finished off from bottom right corner.

With little dangers from the away side, the closest they came in finding back of the net was when Antalyspor were awarded penalty on 64th minute but Yuvakuran did well to save Fredy’s kick.

Besiktas could have added the third goal when it was 68’ minutes on the clock after Mensah, showing decent piece of foot-work at the right flank, sent Christopher Larin through on goal but Canadian’s effort was weak to beat Kaplan.

Besiktas completed their 3-0 whipping after Ilkay Isler tapped home a nice delivery from left flank- though there was review from VAR but the technology later allowed the goal.

Mensah was replaced on the 61st minute.
