Manchester United and Man City eye Harry Winks transfer as Tottenham midfielder falls out of favour under Jose Mourinho

Harry Winks is being considered by both Manchester United and Manchester City amid doubts over his future at Tottenham under Jose Mourinho.

The England midfielder has struggled for game time since the Portuguese’s appointment as Spurs manager, appearing to fall out of favour.

He has started only three of a possible nine Premier League matches under Mourinho, and United and City have been made aware of his situation.

According to the Athletic, both Manchester clubs have identified Winks as a possible signing – with United keen on him this month and City preferring a deal in the summer.

The Red Devils are chasing young homegrown players, and their need for a creative midfielder makes Winks, 23, an ideal candidate for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

City, meanwhile, are on the lookout for new midfielders with Fernandinho turning 35 later this year.

England international Winks has spent his entire career with Tottenham having joined their academy aged only six. He made his professional debut in November 2014 and has gone on to play more than 120 times for the Lilywhites.
