Prize money for Ghana Premier League announced ahead of next season


Ghana Premier League receives increment in prize money for 2020/2021 season champion as GFA announce.

The new season starts next week 14rh November and the Ghana Football Association have announced prize money for champions of various competitions.

The winner of Ghana Premier League will take home GHC 250,000 together with a trophy, 40 gold medals and GHC 10,000 worth of groceries from Melcom Shopping Center.

The West African’s football governing body held its launch for the new season on Friday, setting the tone for Ghana’s top flight league to start mid next week.

The second placed team for the upcoming season will receive GHC 150,000 together with 40 silver medals and groceries from Melcom.

With GHC 100,000 difference between the 2020/2021 champions and runners up, there appears a huge increment from 2016/2017 winner’s prize money.

Aduana Stars took home GHC 180,000 for lifting the in 2016/2017 Premier League title and stand below GHC 70,000 from the team that may lift this season’s title.

The Dormaa based side will be hoping to win the league this season after retaining most of the key players including last season’s top scorer Yahaya Mohammed whiles a deal for former midfielder Sam Adams from Asante Kotolo has been completed.

Third place for the term will amass GHC 80,000 plus 40 bronze medals at the end of the season.

The winners of the various Division One Leagues will also get GHC 50,000 in prize money.
