CAF name Ethiopian referee Bamlak Tessema to handle CAF Champions League tie between Zamalek and ZESCO United in Cairo

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have announced Ethiopian match official Bamlak Tessema to handle Zamalek home game against ZESCO United in Match Day 4 of the Champions League.

Zamalek drew 1-1 in the first leg tie in what was Match Day 3 of the Champions League group stages against ZESCO in Ndola a week ago.

The Egyptians now host the Zambians in Cairo for the return leg on Friday, and Tessema has been tasked to officiate that epic tie.

The draw kept Zamalek second with four points, three behind leaders TP Mazembe, and two ahead of 1º de Agosto, while ZESCO remain bottom with two points.

The 39-year-old referee is considered to be a good omen for the Whites as he officiated Zamalek’s clash against RS Berkane in the 2019 Confederation Cup final which saw Zamalek triumph the title for the first time in their history.
