Patrick Yeboah reveals how a move to Asante Kotoko has been the difference in career

Asante Kotoko left-back Patrick Yeboah has revealed the opportunities and good joining the Ghanaian side have done in his football career.

Kotoko signed Patrick Yeboah from Karela United in July 2019 in a bid to replace departed Evan Owusu and Daniel Darkwa who later joined the Nigerian Premier League.

Yeboah has settled in Kotoko very well, under former boss Kjetil Zachariassen, making a maiden call up into any of Ghana’s national teams, after joining Black Stars B in 2019.

The defender has revealed how big Kotoko is, and ‘on and off ‘opportunities it come along being a Kotoko player.

“Asante Kotoko is a big club and it offers big opportunities for players both on and off the field,” he told Kotoko Express.

“In as much as I aimed at playing well for the club to push it forward, I also sat out to also use the platform to improve on my football career. It has been very amazing.”

One of the main reasons why players choose to join big clubs is to attain community and international popularity. Playing for Karela United was not able get Yeboah close to climbing the popularity ladder.

Yeboah has also make revelation that playing for one of Africa’s greatest clubs, Kotoko however, has led him become popular not only in his community but in the international scene, earning him a host of interests from abroad.

“I just cannot describe it. I got the chance to join the Black Stars B a few months after I started playing for the club (Kotoko) and it is amazing how popular I have become since my first game for Asante Kotoko and the number of clubs abroad that are seeking my services.”

“I do not have a manager because I have been my own man since I started playing professional football.

“Before, I did not have people (agent or manager), pushing me to become my own manager.

“Now it will surprise you the number of people who pressing me with the desire to manage me. It is a great experience and one that increases your love the zeal to die for the club even more.”

Yeboah, 26, earn a Black Stars B call up to play a big part in Ghana’s second place finish in 2019 WAFU tournament in Senegal.

He has been one of the key men for Kotoko under new boss Maxwell Konadu but he has shared the left-back position with new signing Imoro Ibrahim- who was Yeboah’s competitor in the WAFU tournament in Senegal.

There are number of clubs chasing Yeboah’s signature with South African giants and Armenian clubs interested in the defender.
