Al Ahly and Al Hilal enter into competition for Zamalek midfielder Ferjani Sassi

Al Ahly and Al Hilal are set to battle for signature of Zamalek ace Ferjani Sassi according to latest report in Tunisia.

Tunisian news website Gnet has made a big revelation in the North African’s transfer window, claiming that the Egyptian and Saudi Arabia giants are interested in securing the signature of Tunisian International Sassi.

Sassi, 28, joined Zamalek from Al Nasr back in 2018 and has since remained fans favorite, winning the CAF Confederation Cup, CAF Super Cup, the Egypt Cup and the Egyptian Super Cup over his two years stay in Cairo.

But he has been monitored by Rene Weiler’s Ahly. The Reds have started their summer transfer activity after adding Taher Mohammed Ahmed from Arab Contractors despite failing in a bid to lure Gaston Sirino from Mamelodi Sundowns and Jackson Muleka of TP Mazemebe.

Sassi is the latest player to appear on the Al Ahly’s summer shopping list, and have now contacted the player over a possible move this summer as claimed by Gnet.

Sassi have months on his contract at Zamalek until June 2021 but could extend his contract under Patrice Carteron according to Tunisia national team’s mental trainer, Ichraf Kanfoud.

The report from Gnet also claims that Al Hilal are also prepared to land Sassi- who Zamalek are prepared to let join the Saudi Arabia giants but for the right fee.

Zamalek are not ready to do business on Sassi with Al Ahly for any price and have meanwhile placed $17 million price tag on the Tunisian only for Al Hilal to open official negotiations for the 28-year old midfielder.

That’s according to Egyptian source Kingfut but Sassi is willing to stay at Zamalek amid his chance of winning the CAF Champions League this season or the next one given the project Carteron is building at Zamalek.

Ahead of Zamalek’s African Champions League ambition, they made a big statement in the quarter finals after crushing out two successive time defending champions Esperance de Tunis before setting a semifinals place against Raja Casablanca.

Sassi already have a continental title in CAF Super Cup in his trophy cabinet after helping Zamalek to whip Champions League winners Esperance 3-1 in Qatar early this year.
