Black Stars coach C.K Akonnor wins case against former side Asante Kotoko, Warriors to pay huge compensation

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko and former boss C.K Akonnor had a beef to settle after the later dragged the 1971 CAF Champions League winners to the GFA Player Status Committee over breach of contractual terms which the manager demanded payment of two-year salary, league trophy cash, and CAF Confederations Cup group stage entitlements.

After, adjourning the case on several times, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has now ruled in favour of Black Stars coach Akonnor.

On Monday, collaboration between the Appeals Committee and Player Status Committee communicated the ruling through the GFA official website, firmly stating Asante Kotoko guilty of breach of Akonnor’s contract.

“The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has upheld the decision of the Player Status Committee with respect to the contractual dispute between Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor and Asante Kotoko SC,” the GFA announced on its official website on Monday.

“It would be recalled that the Player Status Committee found Asante Kotoko guilty of breaches in the contract with Akonnor and asked the club to pay him compensation.

“The ruling of the Appeals Committee has been communicated to both parties.”

The Premier League is expected to pay GHC 400,000 (4 Billion old cedis) compensation to the former manager.
