The Cairo International Stadium was the centre of attraction as Pitso Mosimane supervised his third Reds game. However, the South African tactician failed to pick all three points for first time since replacing Rene Weiler at the Egyptian champions as Pyramids hold Ahly to a goalless draw in the Egyptian Premier League.

Mosimane had guided the Cairo based side to a slim victory over Al Mokawloon in his debut game before thrashing ENPPI 3-0 with stunning team performance last Wednesday.

While Ahly were expected a third straight victory under Mosiname, Pyramids gave the five-time PSL winner a good run of his money, confidently forcing the already crowned league champions to 0-0 in Cairo.

Having been tagged as “the coach with beautiful football” in Egypt, Mosimane’s side were completely beaten on the possessive scale with the away side grabbing 57% ball possession against Ahly’s 34%.

Amr El Solia’s red card in stoppage time of the first half saw Pyramids dominate the game to full time, and Ahly needed to defend deep with their hearts to contain Pyramids forward John Antwi and Said.

The Eight-time Caf Champions League winners now have a game to complete the 2019/2020 Egyptian Premier League season before they travel to Morocco for their Champions League semifinals first leg clash against Wydad Athletic Club on Saturday 17th Oct. in Casablanca.
