Orlando Pirates face Esperanca of Angola in Confederation Cup after Mbabane Swallows ruled out

The 2020/2021 CAF Confederation starts late this month with Orlando Pirates initially meeting Mbabane Swallows of Eswatini in preliminary round.

However, the PSL side are set to face Sagrada Esperanca of Angola after Mbabane Swallows of Eswatini ruling out of the Confederation Cup.

Esperanca were due to meet Swallows in the first preliminary round where the winner over a two legged tie will meet Pirates in the second preliminary round.

However, Eswatini Football Association spokesperson Muzi Radebe has now confirmed that Mbabane Swallows will not be participating in Africa this season.

“Swallows are not part of the CAF Confederation Cup tournament. We only have Young Buffaloes that are going to participate in the CAF Champions League,” as stated in KickOff.com report.

The Buccaneers are now set to travel to Luanda to kick off their CAF campaign after finishing third in the Premiership last season.

The first leg of the second preliminary round will take place between 22-23 December and the second leg is scheduled for 5-6 January 2021.

Bloemfontein Celtic are South Africa’s other representative in the Confederation Cup and are due to meet AS Maniema Union of DR Congo in the first preliminary round on 27-29 November and 4-6 December.
