Asante Kotoko enter Week 10 of the Ghana Premier League with mouthwatering encounter against regional rival Ash Gold at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Kotoko have put on a very fine form recently, where they remain unbeaten from their last five Ghana Premier League games whilst Ash Gold at the receiving end haven’t looked so impressive as compared to the form put on at the beginning of the season.
The Miners have won two, drew one and lost two of its last five Premier League games, and are hoping to continue their winning ways on Sunday, following their 1-0 triumph over Liberty Professional at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium last weekend.
Kotoko can go summit of the league table when they beat the Miners as competitors Aduana Stars face a tricky away tie against Liberty Professionals at the Carl Raindorf Park, and Medeama SC could also potentially be held by Elmina Sharks at home.
Kotoko can boost of the return of Matthew Cudjoe who missed Kotoko’s home game against Liberty Professionals and trips to WAFA and Dreams FC when the 16-year-old was on trails at Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.
Winger Augustine Okrah also resumed training this week and netted in Kotoko’s 11-3 victory over Jachie Youth Academy yesterday at Adako Jachie training complex.
There was good news for new signing Kwame Opoku who joined the Porcupine Warriors from Nkaranza Warriors early this week. He grabbed five goals in the friendly against Jachie Youth Academy for most of assists coming from Songne Yacouba.
Songne Yacouba on the other hand, who is likely to miss Sunday’s game also registered a brace before Maxwell Baakoh and Naby Kieta added to Kotoko’s tally.
At the receiving end, Ashanti Gold will travel to Kumasi on Sunday morning without their new manager Kasim Gokyildiz. The GFA failed to validate the authenticity of Gokyildiz’s License from the German and Turkey football Associations.
