Ghana Premier League second round start rescheduled as Black Stars prepare for Afcon qualifiers

Ghana Premier League second round start has taken a new date with a shift from this month to early next month due to Ghana’s prepare to face South African and Sao Tome & Principe in Total Afcon qualifiers.

The first round has already ended though Asante Kotoko have outstanding game against Bechem United. After the first round ending, Karela United lead the table with 31 points above Great Olympics with 30 points followed by Hearts and Kotoko who have accumulated 27 points each.

The top flight league was initially scheduled to return on this month but the majority of Black Stars squad for clash with South African and Sao Tome & Principe has caused a new date for the restarted of the Ghana Premier League.

“The start of the second round of the Ghana Premier League has been rescheduled from Friday, March 19, 2021, to Friday, April 2, 2021.”

“The decision is to give handlers of the Black Stars ample time to prepare for the two remaining Africa Cup of National qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.”

The latest C.K Akonnor’s call up only saw two foreign based players Mubarak Wakaso and Emmanuel Boateng join Ghana Premier League dominant squad.

The Chinese based duo have been in camp since after first week of Black Stars camping in Accra.

“The Black Stars have been fine-tuning in Accra for the two ties with a chunk of them being home-based players.”

“The Ghana Premier League has been on break since Sunday. March 6, 2021.”

“Stakeholders are also to take note that the outstanding game between Asante Kotoko SC and Bechem United FC originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 24, 2021, will now be played on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.”
