Al Ahly enter race to sign Rapid Wien forward Aliou Badji after CSKA Sofia ruled out Ali Sowe transfer

Egyptian side Al Ahly are desperate to add a striker to their striking department and a couple of players like Blessing Eleke and Ali Sowe have all been recently linked with a move to augment Ahly’s striking department.

The Cairo based club called off their interest in Luzern forward Eleke two weeks ago, now that it appeared that the Nigerian is struggling to impress Al Ahly this season, who Eleke has scored less than five goals for Luzern this season.

Ali Sowe club CSKA Sofia have also completely ruled out selling Sowe this January after three unknown clubs, which according to reports, Al Ahly must be one of them have made Sofia contacts in a bid to sign the Gambian striker.

  • “The truth is that so far we have received three very attractive offers for Ali Sowe,”
  • “The interest raised from foreign clubs is very logical and expected, but the management of CSKA Sofia doesn’t have any plans of selling the striker at any cost.
  • “Ali Sowe is a very important player for our team and we rely on him to achieve our goals this season,” the statement added.

After, Rapid Vienna forward Aliou Badji is the latest player Weiler’s side have identified and knee signing in this transfer window.

Badji, 22, has been impressive in Europe since completing his move from local side Casa Sports in Senegal to Swedish side Djurgardens in 2017.

He appeared as Djurgardens U21 top scorer in 2018, and assisted the senior side in their triumph in Swedish Cup after beating Malmo FF 3-0 in the final.

Badji sealed a €1.5 million deal from Djurgardens to Rapid Wien February last year, and the Senegalese has netted three times out of 16 appearances for Wien this term.

Although, this wouldn’t be enough reason for the Egyptian’s to open a chase for the striker, but the power of Badji up front is another thing Ahly prioritize about the former Senegal U-20 International.

Al Ahly is understood to preparing to offload Hermenegildo da Costa Paulo Bartolomeu (Geraldo) to Tunisian side Club Sportif Sfaxien in order to free up space for foreign players before they can sign Badji this term.
