Black Stars skipper Andre Ayew converts two penalties to end Swansea City six-game winless run in Championship

Ahead of Swansea City win over Middlesbrough yesterday, the Swans have gone a total of six Championship games without a win. But yesterday at home against Boro was a different story, and a sweet one indeed as they thrashed Boro 3-1 in numerical advantage at Liberty.

It all began with Ghanaian captain Andrew Ayew who converted a penalty to give Swansea City the lead on the 22’ minute mark. Marcus Tavernier drew the away side on level when it was 59’ minutes on the clock.

However, two red cards later on from second half sub Marcus Browne on 63’ minute and Paddy McNair on 77’ minute handed the Swans numerical advantage to whip Boro two additional goals.

Andre Ayew stepped out once again to restore City’s lead after converting a 71’ minute penalty before Sam Surridge put the game beyond nine men Middlesbrough, making 3-1 on the 73rd minute at the Liberty Stadium.

The assistant Swans captain completed the entire 90’ minutes, inspiring his side’s unbeaten run in their last four home league games against Boro since losing 3-0 in 2009.

Ayew’s side sit 10th on the Championship table with 34 points from 22 games as they travel to face Luton Town next week Saturday.
