Al Ahly defender planning to retire at the Cairo based club

Tunisian International Ali Maaloul who plays as a left-back for Al Ahly in Egypt has revealed his retirement plans at the Cairo based side.

The Tunisian has been one of the club’s most influential players both on and off the pitch over the last five years, going on the score 19 goals and 39 assists in 121 matches since his arrival from Club Sportif Sfaxien in 2016.

He has now revealed plans to retire at the Egyptian side during an interview with club’s TV channel on Friday.

He also revealed that he nearly left the club but later respected Ahly’s decision to reject a big money move for him.

“I received a mega offer to leave Al Ahly last season but I respected the club’s decision to reject the offer. I want to retire at Al Ahly.”

The defender explained further how his former manager back then at CS Sfaxien allowed him to join the Champions League title record holders after receiving Ahly’s offer.

“When I received Al Ahly’s offer, I told my manager at CS Sfaxien that I had an offer from Egypt and he told me to go if it was from Al Ahly.”

His two goals put the Egyptain Premier League leaders through to the semifinals of this year’s CAF Champions League after bagging in two second half goals against South African side Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarter finals first leg at Cairo.
