Medeama SC boss Samuel Boadu assures of winning GPL title despite six points deduction

On theory, there is no football activity for points accumulation but some clubs in the Ghana Premier League have practically suffered points deduction despite all football events suspended by the Ghana Football Association early this week.

One of the clubs to suffer points deduction is Medeama Sporting Club who perhaps outstanding performance so far has saw them on top of the 2019-2020 Ghana Premier League table, leading comfortably with 30 points two more points above second place Aduana Stars after 15 games.

The GFA have deducted six vital points out of their 30, through its body of the Disciplinary Committee for a reason of the league leaders fielding an unqualified player against Great Olympics early this month.

The Tarkwa based side have now see their lead dropped down to somewhere 7th position on the league log (influenced by upstanding games) and can simply affect their chances of winning this year’s Premier League title.

But their boss Samuel Boadu don’t accept that the points deduction will hamper their chances of lifting the league title and remains confident of laying hands on the title for the first time in the club’s history.

In an interview with TV3 Ghana Premier League Express, having been asked whether the points deduction will affect Medeama’s chances of winning the league title, the Ghana gaffer responded;

“Not at all, what I will say is, it’s also a motivation for us, it will also help us to work extra harder”.

“Now we have seen that we have lost some vital points…that doesn’t dump our spirits, we are going to work extra to regain our position on top of the league table” he added.

He revealed a strategic calculations for how he ought to win this season’s league title after the point deduction from the GFA.

“And I believe that this year’s league Medeama SC will be crowned the champions.

“I have done my calculations, I have seen that when we deduct six points from our points, we will come to 24 points, and the one who’ll be at the top now would be 28 points.

“With just 4 points interval between Medeama and the first…this is not a big deal, those teams they will come to Tarkwa and we are going to score them.

“We will also work hard to win the away matches to compensate for the point deduction…he concluded.

Meadeama have remained unbeaten in the last five league matches winning three and drew two games.

Boadu’s team is arguably one of the best teams to clinch this year’s league title with all the stats speaking of the kind of team the gaffer has built.

They are the highest scoring club with 18 goals and second club to concede less amount of goal (8) after Asante who lead with least of 7 goals conceded.
