CAF impose US$10,000 fine on Ghana over fan pitch invasion in Black Star’s victory against South AFrica
Pitch invader Awal Suleman has brought a whip on Ghana after his unwelcoming action, running across the pitch of the Cape Coast Stadium in November 2019 during Black Stars’ AFCON qualifier against South Africa has yielded nothing but huge fine on the Ghana Football Association.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have now imposed a fine on Ghana by asking the GFA to pay an amount of Ten Thousand US Dollars (US$10,000) for the invasion practice.

This is in relation to the incident that occurred at the latter stages of the Black Stars’ win over South Africa in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Cape Coast Stadium on November 14, 2019.
CAF Disciplinary Board after review of match report has now slapped a huge fine of US$10,000.
The 25-year-old invader, Awal Suleman, who sprint across the pitch, was later sentenced to pay a fine of GHC 2,400 by the Cape Coast Circuit Court for breaching public disturbance laws.
“There is a need for lovers of our national teams to behave appropriately within the laws of game. This is really important because our actions have consequences for the GFA and the State at large”, advised by legal practitioner of the GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison.
“We will continue to educate the patrons of the game but there will be mechanisms to ensure that fans who cause the Nation to lose money in this manner are brought to book.”
Awal invaded the pitch at the time Ghana was comfortably leading Bafana Bafana of South Africa 2-0, thanks to Thomas Partey and Kudus Mohammed who struck in each half of the game to give Black Stars the deserving win.
