RB Berkane set to announce transfer of Asante Kotoko winger Augustine Okrah

Berkane have reportedly reached agreement with Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko for signature of top talent Augustine Okrah with announcement of the transfer expected to take place very soon.

RB Berkane have already seen one of their ambitions in African Inter Club football achieved following their recent glory in the Caf Confederation Cup and have now set defending the title as a major priority in the 2020/2021 season.

While conquering the Confederation Cup especially for a second time in a row doesn’t always come easy, purchasing quality players from across the continent is very essential and the Moroccan side have tailored their transfer activities in that direction.

They have been linked with a move for a host of stars including Zamalek forward Mohamed Ounajem, Esperance de Tunis duo Tayeb Meziani and Fousseny Coulibaly, Mohamed Kamal of Wydad Athletic, Abdelkrim Baadi, Brahim El Bahraoui and Augustine Okrah.

Berkane have however only announced a deal for Abdelkrim Baadi from Hassania Agadir, Brahim El Bahraoui from Rapide Oued Zem in the Moroccan League and a deal for Okrah from Asante Kotoko could be announced this weekend.

Okrah joined Kotoko on a free transfer in July 2019 after terminating his contract with Indian Super League side NorthEast United and has ever since impressed in the Red’s colours while helping Black Stars “B” reached finals of the 2019 West African Football Union (WAFU) Championship in Senegal.

The 27-year old forward opened Kotoko’s 2-0 home beating of Tunisian powerhouse Etoile Sportive du Sahel in the 2019/2020 Caf Champions League and it’s a point Berkane registered interest in the Ghanaian International.

Richard Arthur doubled Kotoko’s lead in the second half but the Tunisians over turned the tie in Tunisia a week later after thrashing the Ghanaian giants 3-0 in Monastir to progress to group stages of the Champions League while Kotoko dropped to the Confederation Cup.

Okrah is understood to leave Kotoko January 2021 where his current contract expires and has never reached new agreement with the Ghana Premier League outfit.

Futball Surgery understands that in order for Kotoko to avoid a situation of Okrah free agent, they have decided to cash in on the versatile winger.

The Ghana Premier League side have already agreed a 150,000 (Dollars) deal with Berkane and asked Okrah to fly to Morocco on Wednesday to complete his medicals whiles his teammates (on the same day) travel to Mauritania to face FC Nouadhibou in the Champions League on Sunday.

The Ghanaian International has already passed his medicals on Thursday and is expected to sign a 3-year contract if nothing changes. Berkane could announce Okrah’s transfer on Saturday or early next week.

Berkane lifted last season’s Total Caf Confederation Cup after beating to Egyptian side Pyramids 1-0 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.Thanks to Issoufou Dayo who head home 15′ minutes into start of the final.

They begin their title defense with a second preliminary round clash with winner of AS Kaloum Star from Guinea and Tevragh-Zeina from Mauritania.
