Orlando Pirates closing in on signing Ivorian defender Kouassi Kouadja from Cape Town City

Former Cape Town City defender Kouassi Kouadja is close to signing for Orlando Pirates after holding a week trail with Pirates.

Kouassi Kouadja signed a three year deal with Cape Town City in July 2018 but a knee injury hit the progress of Kouadja during the close of last season ABSA football calendar.

After returning to full fitness some days ago, Kouadja would have walked into Cape Town City’s squad but the South Africa giants had already exhausted their foreign quota for the ongoing season, which mean Kouadja is currently not registered with City.

Like his re-development in his football career begins, Kouadja has been linked with a move to Orlando Pirates some days now, however, rumours are eventually turning to be a reality as close source revealed to KickOff.com that the Ivorian has begun trials with Orlando Pirates.

The source is quoted in KickOff.com “He is a free agent. He can sign with any team anytime.”

“He is looking forward to impress at Pirates and hopefully he signs with the team before January.”

Attempt to sign a defender would be a good step for Pirates after parting ways with Brazilian defender Marcelo Caio at the start of the season. Again, Pirates have also struggled defensively this season as they have already conceded 16 goals in 11 league games – the second-highest number of goals conceded by a PSL team after Cape Town City (20).

Kouadja has now come into the light of Pirate’s defense chase, and  manager Rhulani Mokwena is believed to be gradually impressed with Kouassi Kouadja’s comportment and adoptability which would see Mokwena advice Pirates big bosses to offer the Ivorian a permanent deal.

Pirates already have a spot in the foreign quota to fill and capturing Kouadja on a free transfer would be best and ideal for Pirates.
